Caring for Books

  • Use bookmarks and clean hands
  • Turn pages from the top right corner
  • Keep books clean and dry - no food, drink, or weather, please
  • Others use these books - no drawing, coloring, cutting, or pasting
  • Report damaged books to the library staff as soon as possible


  • Open daily at 8:30 AM
  • Closes daily at 2:30 PM


  • Kindergarten classes have a lesson every week followed by book checkout
  • 1st-5th Grade classes have lessons every other week on an A/B schedule
  • The lessons will address essential information literacy skills, following the AASL standards, and the Virginia Standards of Learning. Creating a life longer use of libraries and learning. Classes checkout at the end of each lesson or as a class, as appropriate


  • Students may check out up to two books at a time (Kindergarten only 1 book check out)
  • Students may check out books for up to two weeks
  • To renew a book, bring it to the library to checkout again
  • Fines are not charged for late or overdue books
  • Students with overdue books cannot check out
  • Replacement costs will be charged for lost or damaged books


  • June 1 all books returned to the library
